Pregnancy: Week #22
- How far along? June 24th: 22w3d
- How big is the baby? 11 inches, and almost 1 pound!
- Weight gain/loss? I'm hoovering right around a 20 pound weight gain. From my picture you would probably never guess that when I tell most people I am pregnant they still look surprised...but I think it is a more obvious from the side vs. when you look at me straight on. Plus, I have a tendency to wear loose fitting clothes so I think most people assume I am just overweight. This week, I also think I finally hit the point where my belly is now bigger than my boobs. Jared says I would probably look more pregnant if my boobs weren't so big- and I completely agree with him.
- Maternity clothes? I wear mostly maternity clothes now. I am still able to wear some of my non maternity t-shirts but they are getting a little short....and I wore a pair of pre-baby jeans once this week with my belly band, but I probably won't be doing that again. I also have a pair of running shorts that I use to be too big that are feeling mighty comfortable right now.
- Sleep? *Sigh* I bought a snoogle, and I am convinced it is magic. The problem is...my hips. My hips are getting sore from sleeping on my sides all the time. I am usually only able to sleep 4-6 hours comfortably. If I'm not consciously making an effort to change positions frequently I will pay for it in hip pain the next day.
- Best moment last week? This is a little late, but at 21w1d Jared felt the baby kick for the first time...but he thought he was feel gas, lol. This past week he felt the baby kick for the second time, and it was a lot more obvious. I got a "Whoa!" and a big smile from him. That was pretty special.
- Symptoms? Just feeling large. My feet hurt if I start too long, and hip pain. I just keep thinking "I still have 18 weeks to go...I don't even want to know how miserable and achy I am going to get by the end."
- Food cravings/aversions? Orzo pasta and grilled zucchini...I also was craving pizza one day which is very, VERY odd for me.
- Exercise: I am just trying to make a better effort of moving around more throughout the day, especially when I am not working. Jared and I went for a walk...oh and my new job requires me to wear 30 pounds of lead during certain procedures. Gaining 20 pounds + wearing 30 extra pounds is loads of fun!
- Gender? I had a dream that we had a baby girl, but then adopted a baby boy at the same time. Not sure what that means...but I'm thinking more girl than boy these days.
- Belly button? Depending on my position, the top lip of my belly button sometimes sticks out.
- What are you looking forward to? Giving birth naturally
- What I miss? Sushi. Sleeping without getting aches and pains. Loose fitting t-shirts.
- Mood? I cried after visiting a daycare (more on that in another post), and when I'm tired I am cranky...but I think that is actually pretty typical for me.
- Movement? The baby's movement is a lot more obvious now, but still pretty sporadic and irregular. I typically feel more movement towards the end of my day, before I go to bed.
- Stretch marks? I haven't really looked, but I still think no.
- Labor signs? No...although, I am starting to wonder if maybe I had some Braxton Hicks contractions at 22w5d because there were a few times during the day where my belly got pretty sore and I thought I might be feeling a cramping sensation, similar to when I get my period. I didn't think much of it until the next day when I was ready something about Braxton Hicks...so I guess if it happens again I'll be more aware but at the time just sort of chalked it up to stretching and growing.
- Milestones? Baby is developing tooth buds and looks like a miniature newborn :)

You look wonderful! I get the hip pain to from sleeping on my side.:-( I've tired putting another (now I sleep with about 5) pillow under my hip that's on the bed side and that seems to help for a little while. Just an idea! Have a great day!
